He is officially dead. Many are still skeptical, but I highly doubt the United States president, Barack Obama, would make such a declaration unless he was absolutely certain bin Laden was dead.

Osama bin Laden Dead!
Osama bin Laden is dead. There is photo and DNA evidence verifying the death of the Al Qaeda leader, who died during a raid by the U.S. Navy Seals. The Seals had been practicing the raid for about a week after they learned the exact location of bin Laden. The Seals received help from the CIA, and the evidence collected goes back over 4 years. The CIA had been tracking a trusted courier of bin Laden. Authorities say the courier covered very well his whereabouts.
Bin Laden was thrown into the ocean after a normal Islamic funeral.
Barack Obama told the U.S. about the attack on May 1, 2011, exactly 8 years after Bush declared war.
